Choose Your Cut
Though burgers, steak, hot dogs, and chicken are the most popular foods to grill on the 4th of July, a great summer grilling idea to elevate the occasion would be to opt for a more refined cut. This usually means you should season. Tender cuts like Ribeye, Strip Steak, Top Sirloin, and Flat Iron can be flavored with your favorite steak rub or salt and pepper.
An hour before grilling, remove the steaks from the refrigerator, season them with a salt-based rub, and leave them at ambient temperature. Salt will help flavor the meat and retain the natural juices during grilling. However, salting more than an hour in advance will toughen the meat. To help the seasoning stick better, rub a little olive oil on your steak beforehand.

You can oil your grill grates to prevent sticking and aid in browning. Remember to flip only once halfway through cooking. The steak is ready to be flipped when juices begin pooling on the top, and it is easily removed from the grates.
